The Directory Depth Measurement Tool

Description

This is a tool to measure maximum folder depth of specified directory.

Downloads

You can use either the script on Perl or the exe-file (for Windows).

Installation

  • Unpack the archive somewhere.
  • If you use the perl script then Perl must be installed on your system. ActivePerl is a good choise for Windows.

Usage example

Consider we have the following directory heirarchy:

.
 \
   1_1
   | \
   | 2_1
   | \
   | 3_1
   |
   1_2
   | \
   | 2_2
   |
   1_3
      \
       2_3

If we run the following command:

max_dir_depth.pl -f .

Then max_dir_depth.pl outputs:

Maximum directory depth: 3

Folder with this directory depth:
./1_1/2_1/3_1

Documentation

Run this to get a brief help message:

./max_dir_depth.pl --help

To access the manual page of max_dir_depth just run this command:

Also you can read the manual online.
